Russia's threat to use nuclear weapons grows
22:00, 16.02.2023

Norwegian intelligence services are calling for the presence of Russian submarines in the Arctic, which may have tactical nuclear weapons, to be taken seriously.

This is revealed in an annual report by the Norwegian Intelligence Service

The intelligence service notes that the main nuclear deterrent forces are on submarines in the Russian Northern Fleet:

While Russia also has submarines, anti-satellite weapons and cyber capabilities that could threaten Norway and the NATO military alliance, tactical nuclear weapons are a particularly serious threat in several operational scenarios in which NATO countries could be involved.

At the same time, U.S. intelligence has stated that it has not yet seen any indication that Russia has deployed nuclear weapons in the Arctic.
