The commander of the ground forces spoke about the situation in Bakhmut
The situation around the town of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, which has been stormed by the Russian army and the private military company Wagner for several months now, remains complicated.
However, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold the city.
Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyy, commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, has made this statement.
The situation around Bakhmut remains difficult. Wagner's assault detachments are advancing from several directions, trying to break through our troops' defences and advance towards the central districts of the city During fierce fighting our defenders are inflicting tangible losses on the enemy. Artillery fire, tanks and other fire weapons are repelling all the attempts of the enemy to capture the city," says Syrsky.
He notes that the city-fortress continues to hold out.
