Ukrainians Mykhaylo Stolyarchuk and Dmytro Hudyk were sentenced to six and five years in prison for allegedly spying for the SBU.
The Human Rights Centre "Viasna" reports:
The Belarusian prosecution alleges that the Ukrainians collected data on military equipment and facilities in Belarus at the request of the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the accusation under Article 358-1 of the CCU (undercover activities), they have allegedly been collecting data on military equipment and facilities in Belarus since 2018 at the assignment of the SBU.
The Ukrainians were detained at the Makrany checkpoint in Brest district while travelling by a Lviv-Brest bus.
The date of the detention is unknown, but it is believed to have happened in early 2022. The trial was held on 24 November.
Another person, Igor Dirko, who was simply deported from Belarus, was detained along with them.
