Ukrainian troops defeated the elite tank army for the war with NATO
After the degradation of the 1st Guards Tank Army and other units of the Western Military District, the conventional forces of Russia, designed to counter NATO, have weakened, the British say. It may take years to restore this potential.

Among the units withdrawn from the Kharkov region was one of the most prestigious Russian armies, which is subordinate to the Western Military District of the Russian Federation. It was created for the defense of Moscow and the counteroffensive in the event of a war with NATO.
The 1st Guards Tank Army (1st GvTA) suffered heavy losses at the beginning of a full-scale invasion, scouts say. It was never fully restored before the start of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkov direction.
