The Russian army is weakened - British intelligence
The Russian army has become significantly weaker as a result of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Its recovery will be slowed down by international sanctions.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Britain on Twitter , the defense budget of the Russian Federation doubled from 2005 to 2018 due to investments in the development of air, ground and sea forces and means. At the same time, modernization still did not allow Russia to dominate Ukraine in both strategic planning and operational execution, which does not allow turning numerical strength into a decisive advantage.
“The Russian army is now significantly weaker, both materially and conceptually, as a result of the invasion of Ukraine. The recovery from this will be exacerbated by sanctions. This will have a long-term impact on Russia’s ability to deploy its armed forces,” the British intelligence said.
