Russia struck a "Nova Poshta" terminal near Kharkiv: staff members were killed and more than 20 people were injured

On the afternoon of 19 July, Russian forces launched a missile strike on a civilian postal terminal in the suburbs of Kharkiv. Three men aged 24, 45 and 62 were killed in the attack, and a further 20 people were injured. Among the dead were employees of ‘Nova Poshta’ and a driver from a partner company. This was reported by Oleg Sinehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

According to him, the strike hit a civilian logistics facility in the Korotycha area. Preliminary reports suggest that Russian forces used ‘Banderole’-type drone missiles.

According to regional authorities, three of the injured are in a serious condition. Medical staff are continuing to fight to save their lives. Rescue workers, law enforcement officers and emergency services teams are working at the scene. Experts are searching the area for possible victims trapped under the rubble and are continuing to clear up the aftermath of the shelling. Their work is being hampered by the ongoing threat of further Russian attacks.

The company “Nova Poshta” has reported that Russian troops attacked the site of its state-of-the-art sorting terminal on three occasions. As a result of the strike, two company employees and a driver working for a partner transport company were killed.

“The enemy’s cynical attack on civilian logistics infrastructure has claimed the lives of two of our colleagues and a driver from a partner transport company. We extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have died,” the company said in a statement.

“Nova Poshta” emphasised that it is in constant contact with the families of the deceased and is providing them with all necessary assistance.

Company staff were also injured as a result of the strike. They have been hospitalised and are receiving medical treatment.

The company reported that it is continuing to assess the extent of the damage. Details regarding damaged and destroyed parcels are currently being verified.

"Nova Poshta" has assured customers that it will compensate them for the full declared value of all parcels destroyed as a result of the attack.

To avoid major disruptions to its operations, the operator has already activated backup logistics routes and alternative sorting hubs. This will help minimise delays in parcel deliveries.
