Ukraine's railway infrastructure has been targeted by Russian troops, with missile attacks killing railway workers and passengers.
Ukrzaliznytsya 's facilities were damaged in three regions of Ukraine on 25 April as a result of missile attacks by Russian troops. There are dead among passengers and railway workers, trains and the railway station in Balakleya were damaged. This is reported by Ukrzaliznytsia, the head of the Kharkiv OVA Oleg Sinegubov and Kharkiv Prosecutor's Office.
Damaged railway infrastructure in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions. In Donetsk region, three Ukrzaliznytsya electromechanics were killed, and four other employees were wounded and concussed.
In Kharkiv region, a railway station with a train arriving at the same time was attacked, 11 people were injured.
In Cherkasy region damaged railway infrastructure facility, no casualties.
In the Prosecutor's office of Kharkiv region reported that the Russian troops hit with a missile "Iskander-M". The missile was equipped with a fragmentation part and exploded in the air. The occupants' strike on the Balakleia railway station was specifically designed for a large number of civilian casualties.
The above actions of the Russian Armed Forces were aimed at a large number of civilian casualties, because at that very time a train with people was arriving at the railway station," the prosecutor's office said.
In the building of Balakleia railway station the roof was damaged and windows were broken out. Damage was caused to the electric train "Kharkiv - Izium", which at the time of the missile impact was standing 15 metres away from the hit. 11 passengers who were in the electric train were injured.
As a result of damage to the railway infrastructure temporarily changed the schedule of suburban trains in Kharkiv region.
