Massive Russian strike on Kiev: rescuers remove rubble, some dead

On 2 June 2026, the Russians carried out one of the largest attacks on the territory of Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev became one of the main targets of the enemy.
A spokeswoman for the Kiev city military administration, Kateryna Pop, told Channel 24 that the consequences of the overnight attack were recorded at more than 35 locations in the capital in eight districts of the city.
According to the State Emergency Situations Service, there is damage to residential buildings and civil infrastructure in Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Obolonskyi, Svyatoshynskyi, Solomenskyi, Goloseevskyi, Pecherskyi and Darnitskyi districts.
Consequences of Russia's strike on Kiev
Kateryna Pop noted that due to the large-scale attack on Kiev more than 60 citizens were injured, among them three children: 3, 11 and 17 years old. About forty people are hospitalised and receiving medical care.
Unfortunately, it is known about the death of 5 people.
The enemy is again hitting civilian infrastructure, damaging medical facilities and residential buildings," she said.
Emergency services are now working on the ground and eliminating the consequences of enemy shelling, including in the central districts of the capital, where civilian buildings have been damaged and fires have broken out.
Debris removal and emergency work continues at locations where firefighting has already been completed. We would also like to thank our rescuers for continuously continuing to work day and night," the spokeswoman emphasised.
She noted that, unfortunately, the number of victims during the day can vary.
At the locations where residential buildings are most damaged, local authorities have organised the acceptance of applications for material assistance under the programmes that operate in Kiev. In addition, people can consult with specialists on all issues and receive medical and psychological assistance if necessary.
Kateryna Pop stressed that the occupants can cynically carry out repeated attacks, as it happened today in Dnipro. Such shelling threatens the lives of citizens and emergency workers, who arrive at the sites of hits to help with the elimination of consequences.
In case of an air alert signal, it is necessary to go to shelters at once. After all, the enemy cynically continues to hit residential areas," she added.
