Pope admits Ukraine needs weapons to defend itself from Russia - Ukrainian human rights activist, after meeting with Pope

Human rights activist Miroslav Marinovich wrote about this after a meeting with the Pontifex.

The Pope confirmed that the people, like an individual, have the right to self-defense, otherwise it can become like a suicide, - Marinovich said.

The human rights activist also noted that, after listening to the representatives of Ukraine at the meeting, the Pope listed all his steps that he had taken, based on his unequivocal desire to support the Ukrainians who fell victim to this cruel and unjust war.

• on the very first day of the war, he telephoned Zelensky; subsequently called him twice more;
• went to the Russian embassy in order to attract the attention of the world with this non-standard step;
• tried to visit Moscow to talk to Putin and call for an end to the war, but was politely refused;
• hosted Ukrainian children more than once, appealed to the Italians about their moral obligation to support Ukrainian refugee mothers;
• twice sent cardinals to Ukraine - and not because he did not want to go himself, but to signal his attention to the problems of Ukraine;
• refused to meet with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow in Jerusalem, which was previously agreed upon.

We asked the Pope to intensify contacts with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which also suffers from Russian propaganda, - wrote Marinovich

Recall that on June 8, the Pope of Rome hosted the Ukrainian delegation in the Vatican and expressed full support for Ukraine's membership in the EU.
