Vyshyvanka instead of a bow in the style of the USA of the 50s. Songs in Ukrainian instead of English lyrics. However, talent and charisma remained unchanged.

Oleksandr Remez, the leader of the famous Ukrainian rockabilly band "Ruki'v'Bryuky" (Hands in pants), held a concert at the Kyiv club "Squat 17".

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, he went to the front, was wounded, and was being treated in the capital. And before sending back to the front line, he decided to arrange a chamber performance. The money from the concert will be donated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The case when the term "rock and roll front" sounded a little differently. The concert was organized by the leader of the band Hands in Pants, who fought for Ukraine, was wounded, and seems to have found a second musical life. "I want to live" - he sings without unnecessary pathos, representing the view of a simple person who understands all the horrors of war, writes one of the visitors to the concert, Vitalii Dudin.

Another new song by Oleksandr in the country style talks about what he had to go through - injuries and evacuation to the hospital on a train. According to him, another wounded soldier riding next to Oleksandr had a country ringtone on his phone, which determined the style of the song.

I tried to talk to him about music. He replied: "I don't know, it's just a cool song," the musician laughed.

The author is not only proficient in the styles of rockabilly, country, and blues but also acts as an eyewitness poet of turning events. Oleksandr becomes the voice of those who, in the trenches and hospitals, pay with their health for the future of our country. Every line here is suffered, and the charge of optimism is destructive for the Russian invaders. In my opinion, these songs should enter the treasury of world culture. The victory of Ukraine will be not only inevitable but also aesthetically attractive, - believes the visitor of the concert Vitalii.

The band "Ruki'v'Bruki" was founded in 2007. Plays in the styles of American music of the 1940s - 1960s. They perform at thematic concerts or solo performances. However, a few years ago, they took part in the popular television show The X Factor.

As you know, Elvis Presley, whose person is primarily associated with American retro rock, also served in the army. He went to Germany in 1958.

However, many Ukrainian musicians have now left to defend their homeland from Russian invaders and have a much harder time than the king of rock and roll.
