Zelensky has spoken out against the intention to return Russian athletes to international competitions

This is stated on the website of the President's Office.

President Vladimir Zelenskiy spoke to the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach.

He expressed disappointment with the fact that the Russian Olympic Committee attended the IOC summit on 9 November. And that the IOC wants to return Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions under a neutral flag.

Since February, 184 Ukrainian athletes have been killed by Russia. We cannot try to be neutral when the foundations of peaceful life are destroyed and universal human values are ignored.

Also according to Zelenskyy, Russia is using sport for propaganda purposes.

It is worth noting that functionaries of the International Olympic Committee constantly insist that sport should remain outside politics. This explains their desire to bring back Russian and Belarusian athletes. At the same time, Russia continues destroying Ukrainian sports infrastructure with its missiles and killing Ukrainian athletes.
