Ukraine will seek the removal of the Russian Federation from the 2024 Olympics

The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine believes that Russians do not have the right to participate in international competitions until the end of the war.
The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Vadym Gutzeit, hopes that the athletes of the aggressor country will not compete even under a neutral flag. He spoke about this in an interview with the Left Bank.
In most sports, Russians have already been banned from international competition. But it is essential for us that they would not be in tournaments until the end of the war. Therefore, we are working on this issue with international federations, the International Olympic Committee, and the National Olympic Committee, - said Vadim Gutzeit.
It is complex; it is challenging because Russia is trying to participate under a white flag, under a neutral banner, to be still represented at international tournaments. Gutzeit said that many of its representatives are integrated into international federations; many sponsorships are leaving Russia, working, and trying to return.
We want to win the Olympic Games in two years and end the war by this time. Of course, this will be a big blow to the Russian federations; if their athletes do not go to the Olympics, it will be a big blow. We will do everything to ensure they are not there,” said Gutzeit.
Recall that the International Olympic Committee said that if the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine continues, the chances of athletes from Russia and Belarus taking part in the 2024 Olympic Games will drop to zero.
