Deforestation by Russian invaders will lead to ecological disaster - Malyar

The Russian invaders in the temporarily occupied areas are actively destroying Ukraine's natural resource potential, which could lead to an environmental disaster.
This was reported by Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Anna Malyar in Telegram.
According to her, Russian invaders at the beginning of the occupation of Ukrainian territories started to cut down forests. In particular, on the territories of Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.
At the same time, (Russian - ed.) entrepreneurs carry out uncontrolled barbaric felling of forest plantations, which, if prolonged, will inevitably lead to disastrous consequences for the environment," Malyar said.
She also emphasized that most of the forested areas in these regions are of artificial origin and were specially created to protect against wind, soil and water erosion, serving as recreational and reforestation plantations.
At the same time, during the last decade of March of this year, intensive movement of columns of Russian lorries loaded with freshly cut birch wood was registered on roads E105 and M18 near Mariupol, - wrote the Deputy Minister of Defence.
In addition, Anna Malyar stresses, in some Ukrainian territorial communities the Russian command has banned the local population from carrying out agricultural work on the fields, which is likely to disrupt this year's spring sowing campaign and subsequently lead to the abandonment of agricultural land.
