As of March 2023, the EU had frozen €20.9bn worth of Russian assets.

The country's Finance Minister Magnus Brunner wrote this on Twitter.

According to the Austrian official, his country has frozen about 2bn euros worth of Russian financial assets.

Today (20 April - ed.) I received in Vienna the US Deputy Treasury Secretary for Counterterrorism and Money Laundering, Brian Nelson. Especially in light of the war in Ukraine, the strategic axis between the EU and the US is of great importance.

Brunner thus expressed support for the anti-Russian sanctions.

It is worth recalling that as of March 2023, the EU is known to have frozen EUR 20.9 billion of Russian assets.

However, there is still no effective disposal of the frozen Russian funds. EU legislation must be changed for that. European officials are in no hurry to do so.
