US signs new $500m shell contracts for Ukraine
The contracts have been signed with two companies: Northrop Grumman Systems and Global Military Products.
This was reported by the Radio Svoboda website.
According to journalists, the US army has signed contracts with two companies for the production of artillery ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The total value of the contracts is $522m. The companies with which the USA has signed the contracts are Northrop Grumman Systems and Global Military Products.
The decision to produce ammunition for Ukraine was prompted by the United States' fear of a rapid depletion of Ukraine's stocks. The USA plans to start supplying new ammunition in March.
The contracts are funded by the Pentagon's initiative to support Ukraine's security.
It should be recalled that the Pentagon has already announced its desire to increase the production of artillery shells and produce 90,000 pieces per month.
