Ukraine today returned the bodies of 51 servicemen who died defending the country to their families.



The commissioner for missing persons in special circumstances, Oleh Kotenko, said this.

The commissioner said that the transfer of the bodies of the fallen defenders had taken place. Ukraine has managed to return the bodies of 51 servicemen from the temporarily occupied territories.

The repatriation of bodies from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine has taken place with the assistance of the Ministry of Reintegration, the Commissioner for Missing Persons in cooperation with the Joint Centre under the SSU, the AFU Centre for Internal Affairs, other security agencies, departments and international organizations," Kotenko said.

He stressed that the authorities continue the process of returning the bodies of the dead defenders. It is carried out in accordance with the Geneva Convention.

Kotenko also recalled that the Ombudsman's hotline for missing people is in operation: 0 800 339 247. On weekends, messages are accepted via Viber and Telegram: (095) 896-04-21.

Earlier Sotsportal reported that three prisoners of war who had been handed over to Hungary by Russia had been returned to Ukraine. We would like to point out that Ukraine knew nothing about the negotiations and the transfer of the 11 POWs. The government also reported that Budapest ignored attempts to establish dialogue and denied its involvement in the exchange.
