Negotiations on Ukraine's accession to EU begin in Luxembourg


Ukraine and the EU at the level of European integration ministers will present their negotiating delegations and exchange opening statements.
Negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union officially begin in Luxembourg on 25 June. The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has congratulated Ukrainians on this event.

This afternoon in Luxembourg at 15:30 the first intergovernmental conferences will start, at which the negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU will be launched.
The Ukrainian delegation is headed by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanyshyna.
On the EU side - Belgian Foreign Minister Adja Labib and EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Oliver Varghei.
During the event, the EU will present a negotiating framework defining the principles and bases for further negotiations. Ukraine and the EU will also present their negotiating delegations and exchange opening statements.
