The first intergovernmental conference to launch negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership has started in Luxembourg.
Prime Minister Denys Shmygal has announced the start of negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership .
A historic moment. The European Union has opened negotiations on Ukraine's accession," the statement said.
In 2022, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the application for Ukraine's membership in the EU. At the same time, the European Council granted Ukraine the status of candidate for accession to the Union.
Volodymyr Zelensky noted that after applying for EU membership Ukraine has done a lot of work. The country has fulfilled all the necessary conditions and adopted the necessary laws, which are already working. At the same time, according to the president, Ukraine should carry out technical work, in particular, adapt the Ukrainian system to the EU.
We would like to add that negotiations on Moldova's membership in the EU will also start today. The intergovernmental conference on Moldova should start at around 19:00 Kiev time.
