Mariupol mayor reveals how many houses the Russians demolished to cover up their crimes

Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko said at a briefing on Thursday, 9 March:

In two months of heavy fire they (invaders - ed.) destroyed every second multi-storey building. There are 1,800 such high-rise buildings in the city of Mariupol. The terrorist state has identified 934 buildings that are being demolished today... They have already removed 400 such buildings, which means they have concealed their war crime.

The invaders, fearing a Ukrainian counterattack, are destroying traces of their crimes:

They are working both day and night... Because they understand that we (Ukrainian Defence Forces - ed.) are approaching, that we will return the city, that there will be a counteroffensive. And they are preparing for this and cleaning up their war crimes. And it should be understood that 50% of the city unfortunately does not exist anymore, and they are quickly cleaning up (traces of war crimes - ed.)
