In the US Senate, Ukraine aid bill fails to pass procedural vote

A bill to provide aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan failed to pass a procedural vote in the US Senate.
The bill on aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan has not garnered enough votes to start a debate in the US Senate. This became known from the broadcast of the meeting on the website of the United States Senate.
To hold a debate, the bill had to get at least 60 votes out of 100. The votes were divided: 45 "in favour" and 48 "against".
Republicans reported that they would vote against the bill because they demanded that it include stricter measures to control migration at the border with Mexico.
The bill included additional funding, of which $61 billion was to be used for aid to Ukraine.
Shortly before the procedural vote, US President Joe Biden addressed Congress and called for approval of further funding for aid to Ukraine as soon as possible.
The House of Representatives is controlled by Republicans. Earlier, it approved a bill to allocate money to Israel but not Ukraine, after which Democrats blocked the document in the Senate.
