- In Kharkiv, due to the shelling of Russian troops, a genetic bank of plants was destroyed

In Kharkiv, the only plant genetic bank in Ukraine was destroyed due to Russian shelling.
It was one of the largest in the world and at one time survived the Second World War. However, the Russians burned everything to the ground.
This was told by a leading researcher at the Institute of Plant Industry. Yuryev Sergey Avramenko.
More than 160 thousand varieties and hybrids of plants from all over the world were stored there. According to him, there are only a few such banks in the world. Seeds were stored in special storages. They were prepared for sowing, and from March the employees were supposed to sow the collection.
Everything turned to solid ashes. Tens of thousands of samples. This is a worldwide collection. Including varieties that are hundreds of years old, old, which we can no longer restore. It was hell here, the aluminum melted. Everything burned out, said Avramenko.
