- How many cases have been opened in Ukraine on the facts of sexual violence of Russian military

As of July 4, more than 20 criminal cases have been opened on the commission of sexual crimes by the Russian military on the territory of Ukraine. In some cases, several cases of violence are mentioned at once.
Deputy Interior Minister of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko said this in an interview with Ukrinform .
In these 20 cases, there may be multiple cases of sexual violence against multiple victims, or committed by multiple perpetrators. That is, it’s not worth saying that these are 20 cases, these are 20 criminal cases, ”Pavlichenko explained.
Some of the cases were transferred by the prosecutor's office to the Security Service of Ukraine, as they are a violation of the laws and customs of war.
But at the same time, in each individual case, the jurisdiction is determined by the prosecutor's office, the deputy minister added.
Pavlichenko noted that the National Police is still documenting sexual crimes in three areas:
- through calls that come to line 102;
- through social networks and the media; As of July 4, law enforcement officers opened more than 20 criminal proceedings on the commission of sexual crimes by the Russian military on the territory of Ukraine. However, in some cases, several cases of violence are indicated at once.
- with the help of the work of specialized police groups that travel to settlements and communicate with the civilian population there.
In total, since February 24, the police have documented about 20 thousand criminal proceedings on the facts of crimes committed by Russians on the territory of Ukraine.
