At the same time, Ukrhydroenerho's press service reports that the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir continues to drop.

As of 08:00 on 8 June, the level of the reservoir near Nikopol was 13.05 metres. During the day the water level in Kakhovka reservoir has decreased by almost one meter. At present, the destruction of the spillway dam and the earth insert between the station building and the sluice continues," the statement reads.

According to the ministry, to reduce waterlogging, the operation mode of hydropower plants is being adjusted and water is being accumulated upstream of the Kakhovska HPP in other reservoirs of the Dnieper cascade.

Ukrhydroenergo together with the design institute Ukrhydroproject are working on a project to build a cofferdam (overlap) of the Kakhovka reservoir to restore the water level to the design elevation before undermining. A list of priority tasks and works is being prepared," the statement said.

On the evening of June 7, the mayor of the temporarily occupied city of Oleshki reported that there were the first reports of deaths in the temporarily occupied Oleshki.

Also, local residents on social networks report that the victims of the Kakhovskaya HPP explosion have long since appeared. Eyewitnesses report that bodies are just floating in the water in flooded neighborhoods.

According to Tetyana Hasanenko, head of the Oleshok city military administration, it is impossible to evacuate the city on your own, and people there, in particular, continue to sit on the roofs of buildings. In addition, communication with people has been lost, because the phones are running out of power.
