Gaidai explains why Russians are shooting up empty villages in Luhansk Region

The fiercest fighting is taking place in Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
The Russian Federation is shooting at even those Ukrainian villages where not a single inhabitant remains so that the Ukrainian military has no opportunity to entrench there, the head of the Luhansk regional state administration, Serhiy Haidai, has said.
He said that fierce battles are taking place in Luhansk Region between Ukrainian defenders and Russians. The latter are afraid of partisans and have disabled mobile Internet. This way they are trying to protect themselves from them. Therefore, the situation with mobile communications and Internet in the occupied part of Luhansk Region is extremely difficult.
Gaidai noted that the Russians were shelling the de-occupied settlements almost round the clock. In his turn, the authorities constantly suggest that people evacuate because it is deadly to stay there.
He also stressed that the life of people in the occupied part also remains difficult.
The quality of medicines and food in the occupied part of Luhansk Region is very poor, even during the checkpoint in Stanytsia Luhanska before the full-scale invasion, people from the occupation came to the Ukrainian government-controlled territory for food and medicines," the regional head added.
Haidai also pointed out that the occupiers even shot up villages where not a single resident remained so that the Ukrainian troops would not be able to entrench their positions there.
