Xi Jinping emphasised that China's position is to promote peace talks and political settlement.

He said that at present efforts should be made to avoid the expansion and aggravation of conflicts, de-escalate the situation and create conditions for peaceful negotiations. This is in the interest of the international community, including Europe.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said China opposes "some people using normal trade between China and Russia to divert conflicts and discredit China."

China encourages and supports all efforts that contribute to the peaceful resolution of the crisis, and promotes the construction of a balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said he hoped China would support the drive for a peaceful end to the war started by Russia in Ukraine, according to the Polish presidential office.

I hope that China, as a world power, as a member of the UN Security Council, will support the desire for a peaceful end to the war started by Russia in Ukraine, an end - and I count on it very much - that is in line with the principles of international law," Andrzej Duda said.

Earlier, Xi Jinping said in Paris that China intends to co-operate with France to find a solution to the "Ukrainian crisis".

Socialportal also reported that Chinese troops were preparing an armada of ferries and civilian vessels that could carry military equipment and manpower to invade Taiwan.
