Bulgaria's defence minister assured that if the allies at Ramstein do not pay for the shipment of APCs, then "they will look for other options".

Bulgarian Defence Minister Todor Tagarev said on 17 January that the shipment of 100 armoured personnel carriers for Ukraine, agreed in July 2023, has not yet started. This was reported by the BNR on 17 January.

Defence Minister Todor Tagarev said that the logistical part is already clear, but the question is who will pay for this procedure.

It is already clear who will load them where, where they will go. This is again a very serious logistical operation. We also know the amount of money required. It would be tolerable for our budget, but first we are trying the option in this Rammstein format - whether some of our other allies will say - ah, that's a very good idea, I'll pay for the transport. If there are no willing, we will look for other options, we will look for funding," Tagarev said.

We will remind, the Bulgarian Parliament on 21 July 2023 voted to send to Ukraine about 100 armoured personnel carriers along with weapons and spare parts.

In December 2023, Bulgarian President Roumen Radev vetoed the bill adopted by parliament on the supply of armoured personnel carriers to Ukraine.
