The White House does not understand why the Russian pilot was given an award "for courage".

This was stated by US Presidential National Security Council spokesman John Kirby at a briefing on 23 March.

The White House reacted to the Kremlin awarding a medal for "heroism" to the Russian pilot who shot down the US MQ-9 Reaper UAV. The White House considers the pilot an idiot.

If that's bravery, they probably have a different understanding of it. I have no idea why they rewarded the bravery of a pilot who put himself and US property at risk, at best - he was just an idiot," Kirby said in response to questions from reporters.

It is worth recalling that the incident occurred on March 14, over the waters of the Black Sea. Then an old Russian Su-27 fighter jet shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance UAV.

The US said it would not stop flying its drones over the Black Sea. And a few days later it launched a new UAV. The Russian media, on the other hand, continue to "sing" this event as a kind of victory for the second week in a row.
