The SBU has detained a traitor in Mykolayiv who wanted to hand over Ukraine's latest developments in the field of military shipbuilding to Russian and Iranian security services.

The SBU has prevented the transfer of Ukraine's latest technologies in the field of military shipbuilding to Russian and Iranian intelligence. This was reported by the SBU on 15 February.

As a result of a multilevel special operation in Mykolayiv, a design engineer of the strategic enterprise Ukroboronprom was detained "on the hot seat". The official secretly copied and tried to "leak" to foreign intelligence services technical documentation on Ukrainian secret developments," the special service said.

According to the SBU counterintelligence service, the traitor was supposed to pass the information to two representatives of foreign intelligence agencies at once.

The first is a Russian who works at one of the Russian machine-building plants and co-operates with the special services of the aggressor country. The other "customer" of intelligence information turned out to be a citizen of Iran, who had previously been convicted of espionage in Ukraine," the SBU said.

Now the Iranian is in the Middle Eastern country and works for Iranian intelligence under the "cover" of an official of a local company that produces high-tech products.

The two foreigners acted separately from each other, and kept in touch with the Ukrainian engineer-traitor through anonymous chats in messenger.

Reportedly, foreign intelligence services hoped to obtain Ukraine's latest developments in order to set up mass production of their own components for warships.

The SBU counterintelligence officers timely exposed and documented the criminal actions of the traitor. Thanks to this, an attempt to transfer Ukraine's strategically important developments abroad was foiled.

The SBU investigators informed him of suspicion under part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The attacker is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
