GUR special forces demonstrated the destruction of the Russian Kasta-2E2 radar station

The Kasta-2E2 radar system is capable of detecting objects at extremely low altitudes.
On 13 February 2024, special forces of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's GUR group "Gusi-9" struck the Russian Kasta-2E2 radiolocation station near the Russian-Ukrainian border. This was reported by the GSD on 15 February.
"As a result of the fire attack, the Russian "Kasta-2E2" was taken out of service, and the radar station's servants suffered losses," the report said.
"Kasta-2E2" is a mobile three-coordinate radar of decimetre range of all-round vision, designed for:
- airspace control;
- determination of coordinates;
- recognition of air targets.
This radar is capable of detecting objects at extremely low altitudes, determining their trace characteristics and transmitting coordinates and parameters of target movement to the air defence control system. The detection range is up to 150 kilometres.
The radar complex of the Russian Federation monitored the air over Kharkiv and Sumy regions of Ukraine, as well as over Belgorod and, probably, Kursk and Voronezh regions of the Russian Federation.
