The commander of the 128th separate mountain assault brigade has been suspended while the investigation into the tragedy in Zaporozhye, when Russian Federation hit the brigade's personnel.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenski in his evening video address.
Held a meeting of the Stavka. The first issue is the tragedy with the soldiers of our 128th separate mountain assault brigade," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, the meeting was reported by the military, the Minister of Defence, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine and an inspector of the Ministry of Defence. The officials reported that some of the circumstances of the tragedy have already been clarified, namely "whose orders created the conditions for the tragedy to happen."
Thebrigade commander has been suspended for the duration of the investigation. The whole situation is being analysed minute by minute and it will be established who exactly violated the rules of safety of people in the area of access of the enemy's aerial reconnaissance," the President said.
We shall remind you that on 3 November, the Russian army launched a strike on Ukrainian soldiers in the frontline village of Zaporizhzhya, who were gathered in one place to be awarded in honour of Artillery Day. It is known that the strike was on the personnel of the 128th separate mountain assault brigade.
As a result of the attack, servicemen were killed and civilians were wounded.
