Ukraine and Russia could end energy strikes in both countries, a proposal the Kremlin has passed on via the United States.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine is ready to stop strikes on Russia's energy sector if the occupants agree to mirror actions. Ukraine's proposal was passed on to the Russian side through the Americans.

This he said in an evening address on 6 April.

If Russia is ready to stop strikes on our energy, we will be ready to answer them in a mirror way. The Russian side has such a proposal - through the Americans, the president said.

The president also thanked Ukraine's partners who continue to pressure the occupier with their own methods - appropriate sanctions, stopping tankers, and restrictions on the supply of modern equipment to Russia.

Zelensky emphasised that everything the Russians can earn now from oil will go to the war, so "every restriction we make on their ability to export oil is correct".

The president said that because of the war in Iran, Russia, as an oil country, wants to make more money, but Ukrainian drones and missiles are restricting it from doing so.

The Kremlin said the trilateral negotiation process to resolve the war in Ukraine is now on pause, but Russia continues to exchange information with the United States.

Drones of the SBU's Alpha special operations centre, together with defence forces, hit the Sheskharis oil terminal of the Novorossiysk seaport in Russia's Krasnodar Region on the night of 6 April.
