Ukraine initiates a regime of silence in hostilities amid Moscow's idea of a truce for "victory day". It will start on the night of 6 May.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Telegram.

According to the Ukrainian head of state, as of today, there has not been a single official appeal to Ukraine on the modality of cessation of hostilities announced by Russia.

We believe that human life is an incomparably greater value than the "celebration" of any anniversary. In this regard, we declare a regime of silence starting from 00:00 on the night of 5 to 6 May," Zelensky stressed.

According to him, in the time left until then, it is realistic to ensure the onset of silence. Ukraine will respond mirroring the actions of the Russian Federation.

It is time for Russian leaders to take real steps to end their war, if already the Russian Defence Ministry believes that it will not hold a parade in Moscow without the goodwill of Ukraine, - the President drew attention.

Sibiga's statement

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga said in social network X that the world cannot wait for "parades and holidays". According to him, if Moscow is ready to stop hostilities, it can do it tomorrow, 5 May, in the evening.

The minister appealed to all partners, peace-loving states and all headquarters of international organisations to support such an initiative by Kiev.

6 May will show whether Moscow is serious and what it really wants - peace or military parades," he added.
