Zelensky assesses possibility of talks with Putin
Zelensky compared Putin to a spoilt princess.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ruled out peace talks with Kremlin head Vladimir Putin. He said this when asked by the Italian TV channel Porta a Porta.
According to the Ukrainian leader, Putin has played his game and now there is no desire to talk to him.
Zelenskyy stressed that he had tried to find a way to negotiate with Putin before a full-scale invasion to end the war in Donbas, but he was behaving "like a princess".
I wanted to end the war - to find an agreement. He was like, excuse me, a princess, he could not find a format for a meeting," the president said.
According to him, the Presidential Office made many requests to the Kremlin before February 24th but there were no answers from there.
Who to talk to? With whom?! He does not want anything! It's a joke to him. Now that he sees he has become weaker, it is as if Russia is looking for something to appease all states, not to impose sanctions, not to help us. He is an inadequate man," Zelensky said.
Zelensky noted that he and Putin "no longer have anything to talk about".
