More than a third of enterprises reduced wages in Ukraine

Half of the enterprises in Ukraine have reduced staff.
At the end of April, a significant part of enterprises (54%) had to cut staff, and 34% began to pay lower wages than before the war. The share of enterprises that have not changed salaries (38%) is declining. This is stated in the Macroeconomic and Monetary Review of the NBU (April 2022).
As noted in the NBU, in April, the service sector, agriculture and processing industry more often increased wages than others. But trade and construction - more often reduced. Among those who do not work and brought the staff to idle time with the payment of 2/3 of the salary, mainly industrial and transport enterprises. Construction companies were more likely to provide material assistance, however, they are the ones who dominate among those who completely stopped work and payments to employees.
The NBU survey is conducted once every two weeks starting from 03/07/22. The last round was held on April 18-22, 2022, 524 enterprises from all regions of Ukraine, except for Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, took part.
According to the NBU, the number of enterprises that completely stopped their activities at the end of April almost halved compared to the start of hostilities (from 32% to 17%). However, 60% of enterprises operate below the pre-war level of workload, almost 23% - more than twice.
