The case of Yanukovych's power grab in 2010 went to court, the DBI completed the investigation.

This is reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (DBI).

Employees of the DBI completed the pre-trial investigation in July 2022. This year the indictment against Viktor Yanukovych and the former Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine was sent to court. The expoliticians are charged with seizure of state power.

The investigation found that in September - October 2010, Viktor Yanukovych and the Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine unconstitutionally put back into effect the Constitution of Ukraine of 28 June 1996, which led to an unlawful increase in the power powers of the former President of Ukraine, - said the DBI.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted in absentia because the former officials are hiding from law enforcers. Procedural guidance was carried out by prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

We will remind, the Office of the Prosecutor General opened a case against Yanukovych in March 2014. And in May 2022, the Recharsky district court authorised the arrest of the ex-president for treason. In the same year, he was elected a preventive measure in the form of detention in the Euromaidan case.

In total, law enforcers opened 10 criminal proceedings against the fugitive president.
