Water floods villages: Russians destroyed the dam of the Kurakhovskoye reservoir

According to local sources, the water level in the Volcha river has risen by 1 metre as a result of dam damage, and villages along the river are already being flooded. This is reported by Novosti Donbassa and Suspilne Donbas.

Roman Padun, head of the Kurakhovska city military administration, said that due to the ongoing shelling, it is currently impossible to conduct a full inspection of the dam and determine the exact nature and extent of the damage. However, it is known that water is already approaching the settlements of the Velykonivoselkivska community, and, according to him, the sluices of the dam are probably damaged.

The situation is complicated by active hostilities in the area of Kurakhovo and Pokrovsk, which prevents emergency recovery work and damage assessment on the spot. In case of significant damage to the dam, there is a risk of flooding of settlements located downstream of the Volcha River. Among them are the villages of Starye Terny, Ulakli, Konstantinopol, Andreevka, Alekseevka, Bogatyr, Zelenyi Ugol, Novoukrainka and other settlements in Dnipropetrovsk region.

The Kurakhove direction remains one of the most difficult areas of the frontline, where Russian troops make daily attempts to attack, complicating the situation for civilians and local infrastructure.
