Kiev expects Western arms deliveries.
Ukraine is preparing for deliveries of Western equipment and preparing new military units amid expectations of equipment, Lieutenant-General Serhiy Naev, commander of the United Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has said in a commentary to CNN.
He said the next phase of this war "will be about tanks" and we are not talking about the old T-72s but about more modern vehicles such as the German Leopard 2 and the British Challenger.
Of course, we need a large number of Western tanks. They are much better than the Soviet models and can help us advance. We are creating new military units. And our further actions will depend on their combat readiness. Therefore Western help is extremely important
He explained that the new units will be "tank units," so it is important now for the units to learn how to use the new equipment and integrate it into the existing formations.
The entire unit must be equipped with the same vehicle, so an entire battalion, for example, must be equipped with BMP Bradley, or Leopard - if we receive them," Naev added.
We would like to point out that the SDU believes that Ukraine will receive Leopard tanks. However, at this stage there are talks on how to present this information publicly.
