Ukrainian Defence Ministry says what is happening in Bakhmut

The Russians are not deterred by the heavy casualties among the soldiers.
The Russians have engaged not only Wagner PMC mercenaries but also units of paratroopers in the storming of Bakhmut, Donetsk Region. Although they suffer heavy losses, they continue to try to capture the city. This was said in a statement by Deputy Defence Minister Anna Malyar.
Our defenders have to stop the enemy's advance in difficult conditions," she stressed.
She noted that the command of the Khortytsya Operational and Strategic Group of Forces, which is in full possession of the operational situation on the ground, is operating in the combat zone.
Malyar stressed that every military decision and every step of the Ukrainian leadership remains weighted and considered.
The response to the current situation is carried out competently taking into account all the circumstances, tasks and the principle of military expediency," the deputy minister said.
We would like to point out that with no tangible victories at the front, the Russians are shelling frontline towns in Donetsk Region. Hundreds of shells are launched daily at populated areas. Civilians continue to die under fire.
The enemy is concentrating its main efforts on the offensive in the Liman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Mariinsk directions.
