Garbage burns in Mariupol. Caustic smog covered the Primorsky district. The invaders do not have the capacity to put out the fire. The city is on the verge of an ecological catastrophe. This was stated by the mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko.

He clarified that the fire broke out at the mothballed landfill on the street. Naval.

The health and lives of people are at risk. After all, dangerous substances are released into the atmosphere - furans, dioxins. The carcinogen benzopyrene is especially dangerous. According to the level of impact on the body, it belongs to the highest class of danger, he said.

Boychenko stressed that the fire at the landfill is the result of the chaotic and illiterate actions of the invaders, and its consequences can be catastrophic - people can be poisoned by dangerous substances.

He also warned that if the fire is not put out, it will lead to an environmental disaster.

This is absolute cynicism and bullying of civilians, their lives and health are in danger,” Mayor Vadym Boychenko said.

Earlier, the city council of Mariupol reported that about 9 tons of garbage had accumulated on the streets of the city. And the occupiers do not remove it, because they themselves destroyed the municipal equipment.

Mariupol is on the verge of an epidemiological disaster. Total unsanitary conditions reign in the city. Infectious diseases are spreading - among them cholera and dysentery are possible. Spontaneous burials are located in all districts, there is no working sewerage system. There is no drinking water. Added to this are the mountains of uncollected garbage. All this jeopardizes the life and health of Mariupol residents who ended up in a real ghetto, - said the mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko.

According to him, it is necessary to make every effort to provide the residents of Mariupol with the opportunity to leave the city towards the territory controlled by Ukraine. He added that cholera, dysentery and other diseases could cause the death of about 10 thousand Mariupol residents by the end of this year.
