The IAEA notes that explosions can be heard in the vicinity but outside the plant.

A statement by IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi has been published on the IAEA website:

For the past days and weeks, the IAEA's nuclear and nuclear security team at the plant has been reporting such events almost daily to headquarters in Vienna. Some explosions apparently occur at some distance from Europe's largest nuclear power plant (ZNPP - ed), while others seem to be much closer to the site itself.

Yesterday around 10am local time eight strong explosions were heard which sent shivers through the windows of the plant offices and more were heard today.

Grossi said there is a critical need to agree and implement a Nuclear Safety and Security Protection Zone around the ZNPP as soon as possible.

The IAEA Director General is confident that creating a safe zone around the ZNPP will help avoid a catastrophe. And the plant site will not be used for attacks from its premises.
