In which countries Ukrainians can get free medical care


Almost 4 million Ukrainians have become internally displaced or refugees in other countries due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In most countries, emergency assistance to refugees is provided free of charge. There are also special programs under which Ukrainians can receive comprehensive medical care - from consultations and examinations - to inpatient treatment, the Ministry of Health said.
The department clarified that the medical services that Ukrainians can receive vary in their availability, depending on the host country.
Slovakia
If you do not have temporary protection status, emergency and necessary medical care will be free. If you have already applied for the status of temporary protection, but it has not yet been confirmed, then not only emergency and necessary assistance will be provided free of charge, but also the assistance recommended by the doctor during the examination, the department explained.
Upon obtaining the status of temporary protection, all types of medical care will be free on a par with the rights of citizens of this country.
Poland
To receive the same medical care that Polish citizens have, Ukrainians need a foreign passport or other document confirming that they have crossed the border after February 24.
Czech Republic
The state insurance of the Czech Republic covers almost all medical cases, partially or fully compensates for the cost of medicines. But for this you need to have the status of temporary protection - it gives the same rights as the citizens of the Czech Republic.
Slovenia
Ukrainians in this country have the right to free emergency care (including transportation by medical transport), emergency dental care, protection of women (including pregnancy and childbirth), health care for children and adolescents and other medical care, including necessary medicines - at the discretion of the doctor.
Romania
If you crossed the border with a biometric passport, then assistance will be provided exactly the same as for citizens of this country.
If you do not use the form of international protection, but have the right to legal residence in the country, then you will receive assistance as a local population. However, you will have to pay medical contributions from your income. If you are insured in the social health insurance system, you also have the right to help, the Ministry of Health said.
Moldova
Almost all state institutions will provide medical care to citizens of Ukraine, but it will be paid. Some private clinics and hospitals provide free services for Ukrainians.
France
If you have a certificate of temporary protection (APS), the following services will be free of charge:

- Medicines in pharmacies
- Survey
- Dental services
- Points costs
- Dental prosthetics
- Hearing aids and medical equipment
- Psychological and medical support

Germany
Upon arrival in this country, you need to register at the arrival centers or at the contact center of the city in which you permanently reside. After that, you will be able to receive medical care free of charge.
Spain
In state medical centers and clinics, citizens of Ukraine can get help for free - on an equal basis with residents of the country. You can come without an appointment, but you can get a card only with a passport.
You can get a medical card regardless of whether you have already filed a request for temporary international protection or not yet.
Recall that about a quarter of Ukrainians who left their homes because of the war have already returned, Forbes writes, citing data from the UN, the governments of Ukraine and other countries, as well as movement analytics from Vodafone Ukraine. At the same time, Forbes data differs from the UN data, according to which more than 5.2 million people left Ukraine, another 7.1 million became internally displaced persons.
