Ukraine's accession to EU: European Commission recommends starting negotiations

The European Commission's recommendation to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU is key to the decision of the union's leaders.
This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal.
TheEuropean Commission has published the report of the enlargement package in 2023. It notes Ukraine's progress in reforms, as our state has implemented 90 per cent of the reforms stipulated in the candidate status for membership.
This recommendation is key to the EU leaders' political decision this December to start negotiations with Ukraine. For its part, the government will not rest on its laurels," Shmygal said.
He noted that Ukraine had fulfilled all seven recommendations of the European Commission.
We would like to add that the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, made an official statement on the recommendation for Ukraine's accession to the EU during a press conference in Brussels.
She also noted that Ukraine had implemented reforms:
The main progress has been made in the area of constitutional justice, reform of the selection of the High Council of Justice, the anti-corruption programme, the fight against money laundering, important measures to curb oligarchs, as well as a new law on media and the progress of national minorities," Zerkalo Nedeli quoted von der Leyen as saying.
According to the European Commission head, Ukraine can start negotiations immediately. But at the same time, Ukraine should continue working on reforms.
