Ukraine will receive 500 million euros for heavy weapons
The EU authorities will allocate an additional 500 million euros in assistance to Ukraine for the purchase of heavy weapons - tanks and artillery.
This was stated by the head of the EU foreign service, Josep Borrell, upon his arrival at the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Big Seven (G7), TASS reports.
This is the seventh meeting of the G7 Foreign Ministers since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis. The recipe remains the same, more support for Ukraine, including the military. I will announce the allocation of 500 million euros of military assistance to Ukraine, which will bring our assistance to a total of 2 billion euros,” Borrell said.
According to him, these funds "will be used to purchase heavy weapons, at the moment we have already sent armored vehicles, tanks, artillery and shells."
Answering the question whether the EU countries can finance the supply of military aircraft for Ukraine, Borrell said: "No, you cannot supply many aircraft for 500 million euros, these funds will be used to purchase heavy weapons necessary for this type of war."
