Trump said Monday he planned calls with Zelensky and Putin and "ending the war"

Donald Trump has announced important talks that he believes could be a key step towards ending the war.
US President Donald Trump has announced a series of key telephone talks with the Russian and Ukrainian leaders, expecting them to be the beginning of the process of ending the war. Trump wrote about it on the social network Truth Social.
I am going to call Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday at 10:00am. The main topic will be ending the 'bloodbath' that is killing over 5,000 soldiers on both sides every week," Trump wrote.
He added that he also plans to discuss trade with Putin. And after speaking with the Russian leader, Trump intends to contact Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and then hold talks with representatives of NATO countries.
Trump expressed confidence that the day will be meaningful.
I hope we will hear about a ceasefire and an end to this brutal war that should never have started in the first place. God's blessing to all of us!", - he noted.
We shall remind you that on the night of 11 May, Vladimir Putin rejected the proposal of Ukraine, the United States and a number of European countries on a temporary ceasefire for 30 days. In response, he offered to hold a meeting between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. However, unlike Zelensky, Putin did not come to Turkey.
