The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on medical cannabis

The bill regulates cannabis for medical, industrial and scientific activities only.
TheVerkhovna Rada has passed in the second reading a law on the legalisation of medical cannabis in Ukraine. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on 21 December.
Bill No 7457 was passed by 248 votes.
The Rada adopted in the second reading the bill No. 7457 "The law on regulation of the turnover of plants of the genus cannabis (Cannabis) for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and scientific-technical activities to create conditions to expand access of patients to the necessary treatment of oncological diseases and post-traumatic stress disorder, received as a result of war"

The bill regulates the circulation of cannabis only in medical, industrial and scientific activities.
The distribution of marijuana for recreational use will continue to be considered an offence and will be investigated under the legislation.
The cultivation of medical cannabis will only be allowed by legal entities that obtain the appropriate licence and GMP certificate, under 24-hour video surveillance with access for the National Police.
Medical cannabis-based products will be available only by prescription.
The law will be enacted six months after its publication.
