The Russian media say that the UN called on Latvia not to demolish Soviet monuments

The UN allegedly called on Latvia not to demolish Soviet monuments and to ensure the safety of parts of already destroyed monuments.
Propaganda Russian media write about this. Allegedly, the UN called on Latvia not to demolish Soviet monuments. In fact, one monument has already been demolished.
The Russian media write that, as early as August 26, an order came from the UN Human Rights Committee: a request to refrain from dismantling the monuments that are the subject of this trial, and also to ensure the safety of the already dismantled parts of the monument while the appeal is being considered by the Committee.
We confirm that the Human Rights Committee registered the report last Friday and took temporary measures in relation to Soviet monuments in Latvia, Vivian Kwok, representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, is quoted by Russian propaganda media.
But in fact, the Human Rights Committee has other powers and tasks. So, in principle, he could not prescribe anything to the Latvian, in particular, Riga authorities, since there is no such instrument at his disposal.
It seems that only Russian propagandists are fighting for the "bronze soldiers" in Riga.
