From June 18, transit traffic is stopped
This was announced by the Governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov, having published a letter from the Lithuanian railway operator LTG Cargo.
The letter says that if sanctioned goods and cargoes leave one part of Russia for another, but through the territory of the EU, their transportation is prohibited. Transit through Lithuania can only occur if the goods are loaded before June 17th.
Thus, 40-50% of products transported from Russia through Lithuania will now be banned.
The Russian official has already announced "a serious violation of the right to free entry and exit from the Kaliningrad region."
The Kaliningrad region has no mainland connection with the rest of Russia: the region is separated from Russia by the territories of Lithuania and Poland. However, the region has access to the Baltic Sea.
