The IAEA has stated that Iran has accumulated significant stockpiles of uranium enriched to nearly weapons-grade levels

Such activity is a serious concern and could indicate a new nuclear threat.
Iran has significantly increased its stockpile of uranium enriched to almost weapons-grade levels, which may indicate a growing nuclear threat from Tehran. This was reported by the Associated Press with reference to a confidential report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
According to the IAEA, as of May 17, Iran had accumulated 408.6 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%.
The country has added about 133.8 kilograms since February alone," the document said.
The agency stressed: 60 per cent enrichment is only one technical step to the level required for nuclear weapons (90 per cent).
The report also said Iran remains the only country in the world that does not possess a nuclear arsenal but still produces material suitable for its creation.
The IAEA has called on Tehran to change course and finally fulfil international requirements as part of the protracted investigation.
