US to hand Ukraine record $2.5bn aid package

The package will include Stryker, Bradley and MRAP anti-mine vehicles.
This is reported by CNN, citing its sources.
The package will not include tanks or long-range missiles, but it will include Stryker fighting vehicles for the first time.
The package has not yet been finalised, but it is expected to be approved by the end of the week.
The package will also include Bradley armoured fighting vehicles and anti-mine vehicles known as MRAPs. The Americans will also deliver ammunition for artillery systems and HIMARS missile systems.
Ukrainian officials continue to lobby Washington to deliver longer-range missiles (ATACMS) and acquit M1 Abrams tanks, but the U.S. is still resisting, fearing an escalation of the conflict with Russia and because of difficulties with logistics and maintenance.
