The Russians did not let the Red Cross to the Ukrainian prisoners in Yelenovka

A day ago, the Russian Ministry of Defense cynically reported that they had officially invited experts from the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross to Yelenovka.
The Russians did not allow the Red Cross to the site of the tragedy in the colony in Yelenovka, Donetsk region. in response, representatives of the Red Cross emphasized that this was a violation of the Geneva Convention. they specified that they sent a request for permission to visit the colony yesterday - it was not granted.
Our yesterday's request for access to prisoners of war from the colony in Yelenovka was not granted. Providing the International Committee of the Red Cross with access to prisoners of war is the responsibility of the parties to the conflict in accordance with the Geneva Conventions, the report says.
To be clear, our request to access the POWs from Olenivka penal facility yesterday has not been granted.

Granting ICRC access to POWs is an obligation of parties to conflict under the Geneva Conventions.
The day before, the terrorist country announced that, of good will and on its own initiative, it invited representatives of the Red Cross to Yelenovka.
Recall that on July 29, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the shelling of a prisoner of war camp in the temporarily occupied Yelenovka. There were defenders of Mariupol from Azovstal, who were to be exchanged. The safety of the prisoners was guaranteed by the UN and the Red Cross. As a result of the terrorist attack in Yelenovka, more than 50 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, more than 70 were injured.
